Purple Cherry Dash was founded in 2013, primarily as a Blog for an alternative media company.

I was always interested in the alternative scene. I started collaborating with great local suppliers and artists and doing reviews of cool products online. Colourful hair was always a hobby, a hobby I was very passionate about. I eventually found a supplier for powder hair pigment and was changing my hair every few weeks. I then started hand crafting and importing some cool accessories for myself and my friends. It did not take very long to realize that the local supply was not meeting the demand for ‘alternative accessories’ in South Africa. When a dear friend pushed me with love & encouragement, I decided to take the leap and slowly began selling some hair dye and a few hand-crafted goodies, primarily from my Facebook page, via e-mail. The thought of my very own online store not even crossing my mind yet – Still working a full-time job, made the email ordering/invoicing system a little too much to handle on busy days and before I knew it, an online store was in the making, giving me more time to focus on my ‘day job’.

The real goal is to try make a positive impact on the alternative community and get to know & grow with the people who made all this possible. This ‘Purple Cherry Dash Community’ has already grown into a family, a family who’s support has humbled me, and I look forward to continuing this exciting journey with you all.
